About Cart & Pixel
Our Mission
Cart & Pixel exists because the games that shaped us deserve better than nostalgic listicles and five-paragraph summaries. We write the kind of reviews we wanted to read as kids — detailed, honest, and obsessive about the details that matter.
Our editorial focus is the Nintendo 64, but our scope is broader than a single console. We cover the hardware that lets you play these games today — from FPGA recreations like the Analogue 3D to flash carts and display solutions — and the emulation software that makes the N64 library accessible to everyone.
Every review includes a full score breakdown across Gameplay, Graphics, Sound, and Longevity. Every hardware review is tested with real cartridges on real displays. Every emulation guide is verified with current software versions. We don't do clickbait, we don't chase trends, and we don't score games based on reputation.
